Community Education courses are directed at adults of all ages living in South-West Donegal, providing educational and social opportunities for people seeking to learn a new skill or practise a craft in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
Over eight weeks, beginners will learn essential foundational techniques, while more experienced painters will receive tailored guidance to refine their skills and progress their personal projects. Through a mix of practical demonstrations and one-on-one tutoring, you will explore the core principles of composition, colour mixing, and brushwork at your own pace.
This course is funded by the Community Education Support Service, Donegal College.
Schedule
Classes are held 7.00–9.00pm on Monday evenings starting 28 September 2026. There will be a mid-term break after Week 4, meaning there will be no class on 26 October. The final class will take place on 23 November. The course fee covers all eight classes as well as refreshments each evening.
Teacher
Two professional artists share teaching duties for this course. Conal McIntyre is a painter and art teacher with experience in a wide range of art media. Ana Stromberg is a contemporary artist, living and working in Gleann Cholm Cille.
