Community Education courses are directed at adults of all ages living in South-West Donegal, providing educational and social opportunities for people seeking to learn a new skill or practise a craft in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
These weekly evening classes blend traditional skills with modern creativity, giving adults a welcoming space to learn, practise, and connect. Whether you’re picking up yarn for the first time or returning to an old hobby, you’ll find encouragement, expertise, and plenty of inspiration.
This course is funded by the Community Education Support Service, Donegal College.
Schedule
Classes are held 7.00–9.00pm on Monday evenings starting 28 September 2026. There will be a mid-term break after Week 4, meaning there will be no class on 26 October. The final class will take place on 23 November. The course fee covers all eight classes as well as refreshments each evening.
Teacher
Mary P. Byrne is a native of Gleann Cholm Cille. She has a deep love of crocheting, knitting and working with textiles. Her passion for creating crafts has led her to becoming a champion, for two consecutive years, in the All-Ireland Traditional Handmade Craft Final.
