Enjoy Irish! (Beginners)

A foundation course for those who are new to learning the Irish language or who have had only a little practice speaking the language. The course will enable you to have simple conversations with others living in the area and prepare you to take the next steps learning Irish.
Course calendar
Community Education courses are directed at adults of all ages living in South-West Donegal, providing educational and social opportunities for people seeking to learn a new skill or practise a craft in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
These classes will guide you through the basics of the language, offering you structured lessons with a practical emphasis on the spoken language. You will have plenty of opportunities to practice what you learn in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
The course is aimed at those who have not studied Irish before or those who may have been learning Irish on their own without many opportunities for face-to-face interaction with native speakers. If you previously attended some lessons but have fallen out of practice you may also find you benefit from revisiting and reinforcing the fundamentals.
This course is funded by the Béal an Phobail language planning initiative.
Schedule
Classes are held 7.00–8.30pm on Tuesday evenings starting 29 September 2026. There will be a mid-term break after Week 4, meaning there will be no class on 27 October. The final class will take place on 24 November.
