Language classes will comprise up to 50% of the course, but Irish will be used throughout all elements of the programme and skilled teachers will help you improve your fluency and conversational skills. Both beginners and advanced speakers are welcome and participants will be grouped appropriately to ensure they get the maximum benefit from the week.

The topics covered will include:

  • Flora, fauna and local habitats
  • The Irish dialect of Gleann Cholm Cille
  • Neolithic and early-Christian archaeology
  • The heritage of St Columba
  • Local folklore
  • Fishing and maritime traditions

This is not a hill walking course: the guided walks will not be strenuous but you must bring appropriate rain gear and comfortable shoes.
